Using universities to drive economic growth…and drive global answers?

Interesting report out today from Sir Andrew Witty, the boss of GlaxoSmithKline, proposing a £1 billion fund….

to turn ‘globally competitive technological ideas into real business’. Good idea. There’s probably the potential for something similar to take the best technological ideas and turn them into workable solutions for the world’s biggest global challenges like food security or coping with epidemics. The two aren’t mutually exclusive, of course. See the BBC News page.
