GLP Wales launches
Friday September 26 2014The Global Learning Programme for Wales launched this week with students, teachers and guests taking part in global activities at the Welsh language school Ysgol Gyfun Cwm Rhymni.
The Programme, which aims to involve half of all schools in Wales, offers support and practical tools to bring global issues into the classroom, including through a bilingual programme website.
Students at Gyfun Cwm Rhymni, which is a Lead School for the Programme, gave presentations in English and Welsh about their global learning in history, geography, culture, language, cooking as well as cross-curricula activities. 
Students demonstrated Mandarin calligraphy, global art projects and cooked world foods. Guests from around the UK and the world took part in the activities with the help of students and teachers.
Bill Burson, GLP-W Programme Manager said that employers increasingly demand employees with greater global knowledge and skills but even more than that, young people need to understand the changing wider world around them in order to take part in making positive change for the future.
