The Think Global team give an overview on our recent AGM and annual event, jointly run with CODEC.
We were really pleased to join with the Consortium of Development Education Centres (CODEC) to host the Global Learning Annual Event 2017 and our AGM at the end of November.
The Annual Event celebrated the rich diversity and expertise of the English global learning sector as colleagues gathered together to catch up and learn from each other at Hillscourt Conference Centre in Birmingham.
The event included a variety of workshops, all prompting interesting and lively discussions. Highlights included: the workshops on gender equality, run by Clive Belgeonne from Development Education Centre South Yorkshire (DECSY); and advocacy, run by our Public Membership and Advocacy Manager Rebecca Sharkey. You can read more about her advocacy workshop here.
As we know, global education is more than just getting people to learn about or be aware of global issues – how we learn about these topics is equally important; and many workshops demonstrated the joy and impact of storytelling and crafts as effective tools for global learning.
Passion, commitment, expertise and a real eagerness to work in partnership and continue to be creative in promoting global learning for all were strong themes running throughout the event.
The CODEC and Think Global AGMs opened and closed the session and you can read the minutes of the Think Global AGM here.
We look forward to continuing to work with you all in 2018.
