Think Global is delighted to be working with Limited Resource Teacher Training (LRTT) on a new global learning course designed to bring global perspectives into UK classrooms.
LRTT is a social enterprise working to create a world where every child has access to a good education – regardless of the context they are born into. Their approach is simple. They recruit teachers from the UK to develop, coach and mentor teachers from countries where often there is little to no formal training. Working in up to ten countries around the world, LRTT Fellows travel to destinations as diverse as Nepal, Guyana and Rwanda to lead communities of teachers through cycles of workshops, observations and coaching, while developing their own teaching practices and techniques.
Think Global and LRTT have recently embarked on an exciting new partnership to support LRTT Fellows to use their experiences to develop the global capabilities of their students back in the UK. Our new two part course, ‘The world in your classroom and beyond’ will enable LRTT Fellows to bring international development and global issues into their own classrooms and, informed by their international experience, encourage them to reflect on how they approach these topics with students. Highlighting the importance of global learning, the course will give LRTT teachers the confidence to begin to embed global learning across their whole school community.
Catherine Richardson, who is leading the training course for Think Global, says: “It has been an absolute pleasure to work with LRTT Fellows on this course so far. They have some fantastic ideas on how to use their experience to develop the global awareness of their students – I’m already looking forward to part two!”.
LRTT Director Sarah Grant is passionate about this partnership and says: “LRTT feels strongly about the power of global learning. In a world where people are increasingly looking inward, we wanted to equip our Fellows with the knowledge they need to understand the vital importance of a global education and be able to bring the lessons they learned back into their classrooms. The feedback we received from our Fellows about this course has been amazing and we’re looking forward to a long lasting partnership with our friends at Think Global”.
