Information, knowledge and development
Article from Development Education Journal Vol. 5.3.
The World Bank’s 1998 World Development Report focused on ‘Knowledge for Development’. The Report was published in part to stimulate a wider debate on the role of knowledge in development. This article consists of extracts from a Panos perspective paper, published in October 1998, in response to the Report and as a contribution to that debate. The extracts here, by James Deane, Nigel Cross and Kunda Dixit, expand on some of the points in the previous article.
