This focused review of literature explores what works in engaging members and sectors of the public in the cause of international development. It focuses particularly on the importance of engaging the public at the level of values and attitudes. It considers the limitations of current public engagement efforts and the added value of deeper engagement through deliberation and critical thinking about development issues to encourage pro-development values and attitudes.
