Development awareness matters: the role of business and trade unions in promoting awareness of development issues in the UK

Article from Development Education Journal, Volume 8.1.

In this article, Ros Tennyson and Julie Smith look at the current activities of businesses and trade unions that aim to increase awareness of global development, and they assess the potential of using both as channels for awareness-raising amongst employees/members and the general public. They also look to the future, exploring common ground between business, DFID and trade union work and suggesting areas for future DFID involvement. This article is based on a report compiled for the DFID Development Awareness Working Group (DAWG) that was commissioned by the Resource Centre for the Social Dimensions of Business Practice in association with the Commonwealth Trade Union Council.
