International charity SolarAid confront’s humanity’s greatest challenges – climate change and poverty – by harnessing humanity’s greatest resource, the extraordinary power of the sun. SolarAid also works with UK teachers to give them the tools, knowledge and skills to address global climate change, energy-saving and renewables in their school. The programme Sunny Schools offers free twilight training and a teacher-written resource pack which helps to bring these vital issues to life in an investigative and practical manner, increasing pupils’ understanding whilst working towards a more sustainable school and community life. The units hit key learning targets in science, geography, english, D&T, citizenship and PSHE. SolarAid also works with secondary subject teachers on bespoke programmes to enhance their pupils’ understanding and engagement with global energy issues and development.
