2016 Award winner Elena Lengthorn

Global Educator of the Year Award

The 2017 Global Educator of the Year award winner will be announced at a special Award Event on Friday 14th July.

Four teachers have been shortlisted for the award, which recognises educators who have gone above and beyond in raising people’s awareness of one or more of the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals, deepening understanding of these issues and encouraging people to take action.

It was judged by an expert panel drawn from a range of organisations including the Cumbrian Development Education Centre, Oxfam and the British Council.

Last year’s award winning teacher Elly Lengthorn was also on the judging panel. Read Elly’s new blog about her journey with the GLP to winning the award on Oxfam’s website.

This is the first year Think Global has held an event for the award. Jess McQuail, Think Global’s CEO says “We had a very strong field of field of candidates and I am delighted that we can celebrate their work at this special event.”

The Award event takes place on Friday 14th of July 6-8pm at the Foundry, Vauxhall, London SE11.  There are a few tickets still available. If you are interested in attending, please express your interest by email to info@think-global.org.uk  by Tuesday  4th July.
