MA in Development Education and Global Learning

2 October 2017, London

This Masters programme in Development Education and Global Learning is a world-leading programme in the field of learning about global and international development issues. It has been established since 2008 and continues to attract students from all over the world.

It is primarily a distance learning course and students can join the programme from any country around the world as long as they have good internet access.

All students take two core modules:

  • Principles and Practices of Development Education
  • Development Education in the Era of Globalisation

Plus two optional modules plus a dissertation or three optional modules plus a report.

The programme in 2016-17 has attracted students based in twenty different countries including teachers, NGO workers, education professionals and people working in agencies such as UNESCO and policy-making bodies with responsibility for international development.

Students who have participated in the programme have said how much the modules have challenged their assumptions, opened their eyes to different ways of seeing the world and giving them the skills and knowledge to put into practice development education principles. The online discussion forums have been a popular feature of the modules where students get an opportunity to share their ideas with like-minded people.
